one night in hongkong
a land where apartments are smaller than offices
where glass facades attempt to give the illusion of space
like in this photo, the building in the center of the photo is covered in square panes of glass. for me, this photo contrasted the old and new and upcoming. that's hongkong, ever changing at breakneck speed.
still on the issue of space. columns of buildings, rows of traffic and suddenly a basket ball court.photo taken on the deck of a tram..
mr in blue shirt doesn't give a care if he's immortalised on camera. noticed that people in hk hardly stare or notice people like me carrying cameras and acting touristy. i had a strange feeling when i first came to hk that i was stepping into a hk movie set..
just before you think that hk is all decked out like chinatown.. it isn't but i didn't have the opportunity to visit other areas of hk like lan guai fang and soho. Was quite restricted to mongkok, tsim sha shui and the central. And something curious turned out when i was researching hk MTR... use of MTR stations for fortune telling? hmm.. just as wierd as our building here in singapore..
more buildings and...
more buildings with the rare appearance of a tree.. but finally..
FOOD! note the graffiti on the wall is done by me. the arrow points to the delicious simmering wok of fried smelly tofu. it was heaven to me. it smells much stronger than it does here at home but it's so silky! with the sweet sauce and the slightly bitter after taste, it's a lovely snack on a night in hongkong. the stall is like a yong tau foo stall, selling all kinds of fried stuff such as vegetables, veg stuffed with fish cake, meat on sticks, intestines on sticks. yumm.. that is if you don't mind the flies and the dark pot of oil that's been cooking for goodness knows how long..
krunchypeanuts...once u pop u can't stop...daily trivia with a dose of social responsibility...a spoonful of sugar helps the medicine go down...let's say we try...oh Lord how we try...
